It is that time, for you gamers and haters to join Quakecon and watch the magic. They have info on the site for booking and all the fun you can have. Just incase you live under a BIG ROCK let me explain Quakecon:

QuakeCon is a free convention held every year in the Dallas, TX area. Thousands of computer gamers from all over the world make the pilgrimage to play with their friends on a giant gaming network, see the latest cool technology, and compete in a world-class tournament.

Though mostly volunteer run, QuakeCon is sponsored by id Software, makers of the immensely popular Doom, Quake, and Wolfenstein series of games. While the convention celebrates these games in particular, it is really a huge party for fans of computer gaming in general from the hobbyist to the hardcore.

Many networking improvements, bugfixes and optimizations have made it in to the latest version. Included are additional features from ProQuake for serious players including a LOC editor, and message macros. Visit LordHavoc's DarkPlaces for downloads.

ISOTX have released patch 1.32 of Iron Grip: The Oppression, resolving a few of the bigger issues found in the last version.

A small update from the Operation Black Mesa front shows off the knife weapon model
A smaller-scale modification called Decloak: Source has just released version 1a of their client and dedicated server beta files. The premise of Decloak is described on the website as "round based game[play] where the rebel team tries to escape to a certain point in the map before the combine stop them". Sounds generic, until you take into account the entire game play gimmick behind the mod - cloaking.

Not only was I at the GDC I made some new woof'n peeps who will soon be howling in my den. They will be on the Gamers United Radio Show soon. I need to leave the den more often. So many other people who are trying to get into the gaming industry with cool neat innovative projects, software and toys to soon be in your hands or on your PC.

I posted some pictures from various booths I hope to have more soon but like I always tell our listeners on our radio. The GDC is a awesome avenue for you the (mod team, independent game team, innovative tool for gamers) to register at next years GDC and get a booth and take the next step to tell people who you are and what you do.
